Service Description

Owl Feet’s New Exciting Offering for 3-6 year olds. Kindie Owlets runs from September-May and is held on Tuesdays from 9:00-1:00. It’s a time for children to get back to nature, have their sensory needs met and truly have time to be a kid! We follow practices of emergent curriculum, meaning, the projects and topics explored will be greatly influenced by the children's interest, conversations had among the group and through careful observation of the children. Children will develop problem solving skills, risk assessment, and self-expression.We’ll spend ample time outside, while also doing the Owl Feet things kids have come to know and love—lots of sensory focused, open-ended art. The small class size ensures teachers are able to meet each child where they are and cater to individual interests and needs. Each day has a predictable rhythm (see below) so children know what to expect and what is expected of them, but the days will ebb and flow based on weather, the mood of the group and findings throughout the day. Things you can expect outdoors: fire building/cooking over fire, animal tracking, plant identification and foraging, crafts from nature, observational drawing and journaling, free play among the woods and yard, etc. The projects and provocations in the studio will often take from what we are learning about outside. In addition, there will always be collaborative pieces, a playdough table and sensory bins to explore. Daily Rhythm: 9:00-9:30- Arrival/ free choice (typically starting outside) 9:30-10:00-circle time (greeting, songs, book, topic of study discussions) 10:00-10:30-Snack (children partake in helping prepare/ clean up) 10:30-11:45- Main art projects for the day and other art invitations (building center, sensory bins, collaborative piece, playdough, etc) 11:45-12:15-outdoor exploration/projects (walks through the woods, fire building, animal tracking, plant ID, etc) 12:15-1:00- Lunch/Free play + pick up PLEASE NOTE: the total number of sessions and dates listed below are inaccurate.
