About Me
Hi, I’m Sonja, mom to Sawyer, Milo and Owl Feet. I love chamomile tea in the morning, foraging in the woods behind our house, and color, lots of color!

Ever since I was little, I’ve had two main passions — children and art. My mom, grandmother, and great grandmother were all painters and art educators, so art played an important role in my upbringing. I began babysitting at the age of 12 and working on art projects with the kids was always the highlight.
In college, I initially majored in graphic and interior design, but always felt there was something missing. Come to find, it was the kids! I eventually graduated with a degree in elementary education and realized early on I was most interested in exploring alternative ways of working with children. I nannied for years and worked in a Reggio inspired preschool, both of which greatly shaped my philosophy and approach with children.

After having my son Sawyer in March of 2017, I stayed home with him while caring for a few other kids. During that time, ideas percolated in ways that reengaged my interest in creating with children differently. In 2019, Owl Feet began as an art studio for kids + families focusing on open-ended, play-based exploration. We’ve hosted workshops, classes, camps, and parties. Moving into 2025, the main focus will be a preschool to better serve our community and get back to my roots in a more meaningful way.

Here’s to messy hands, and continued adventures!
